Re: "Lifetime Operating Timer at Event Time Zero (sec)"
You know the saying about the person who acts as his own lawyer? Well, it applies at least as well to acting as your own crash expert... You need to hire someone competent to assist in interpreting that kind of data.

Re: 2018 Nissan Sentra
I've occasionally had the CDR executable hang on startup, but never on my Windows 10 field laptop(s), only on my Windows 7 desktop. It doesn't give behaviour identical to yours or Kent's experience, but might be related. For me, it hangs with no splash screen or other indications it's even started, ...

Re: 2010 Ford Edge
I think the battery for this vehicle is located inside the left fender / wheel well. My guess is, it got taken out early in the event, resulting in a catastrophic power loss. Reserve energy was sufficient to command the deployment of various pyros, but not to record anything. As a result, no RDS was...

Re: Error CE44D6
I've seen this referred to in one other case, involving a 2016 GMC Yukon. Call Bosch tech support and pass it along - it's probably one of a batch of overlooked/broken SWID's. Also, what version of the software are you running? They just released 17.1, so it might now be fixed.

Re: Were both vehicles moving?
I'd like to see better photos so I could be certain whether that's a lateral rub or a longitudinal dent - but it looks like I'm going to take a contrarian interpretation here. It looks to me like a rear-to-forward dent, which given the reported impact orientations, could only have been caused by rea...

Re: Questions about CDR relating to AE and deployment.
Depending on the crash severity and circumstances, the experience level of the LE member who attended your crash can vary widely - the trooper may or may not have had sufficient training to do a complete investigation, and policy might or might not allow him to do so. It's somewhat irrelevant, thoug...

Re: Questions about CDR relating to AE and deployment.
The report states the time from algorithm enable to deployment command is 11.25 msec. Does this mean is took 11.25 msec from the time my car jerked to the right to crash? Is that what it records? No. That is the time from the module "waking up" (i.e. the start of the collision) and comman...

Re: minimum distance headlights illuminate
There's no simple answer, because "illuminate" is a poorly-defined term. In my experience, I find that 50m is roughly the limit for useful low-beam illumination for many objects, and 100m is roughly the limit for high beams. However, the key isn't the amount of illumination, but the amount...

Re: Why didn't my airbags deploy?
There are two answers: "it depends", and "because it wasn't appropriate" (probably). Severity (or, more precisely, shape of the crash pulse), orientation, seat belt use, seat adjustment, and occupant stature are some of the major factors that govern air bag deployment. How fast y...

"Center stack" - on the transmission hump, underneath the heater controls. Should be a silver (aluminum) box.

Re: How long will a black box hold data?
"It depends" If you want DTC data stored in the PCM, the Keep-Alive Memory needs external power and so it could already be gone. At the other end of the scale, locked deployment data "should" be stored pretty much forever and can generally not be cleared, short of some hands-on e...

Re: Questions on reconstruction
Mazda not presently supported. Don't hold your breath on retroactive coverage even when they come online. Crash investigators with experience in low speed collisions should be able to distinguish between vehicle-to-vehicle impacts and barrier collisions. I've seen, well, perhaps not a great many of ...
