Is it possible to delete or block EDR data from being downloaded?

Post by Autoloop »

Hi everyone,

There have been numerous occasions where I have tried to download EDR data from a vehicle, but an Error had generated and no data was reported. One of the errors was "Unknown EDID." What can this be from? Is it possible that someone has deleted the data or has blocked communication with the module?

The error message means you're trying to access a module that is not supported by the CDR Tool. The past efforts to find workarounds for unsupported using spoofed VINs includes Bosch populating a list of supported or recognized software IDs from supported modules and when a module is simply not supported. SO yes, Bosch and the OEm have blocked communication with that module, it is not supported.
